What to Do

Myrnam is an active community with many opportunities for family recreation and enjoyment throughout the year. The Village can boast of the many volunteers who spend countless hours each year in support of a large variety of recreational activities.

Ukrainian Dance

Dance allows opportunity to celebrate the rich Ukrainian heritage of Myrnam. Colourful costumes, excellent instruction and dance recitals are just some of the reasons many local children continue to participate each year. Dance classes usually run from early fall to early spring. Discover more about the Ukrainian Dance Club by speaking with one of the club members.

Myrnam Derwent Golf Club

For over 40 years, the Myrnam – Derwent Golf Club has provided challenging golf for enthusiasts. Located about 5 kilometres east of Myrnam, the 9 hole course features a challenging layout with sand greens. There are weekly leagues during the summer months and both green fees and memberships are economically priced for junior and seniors.

Myrnam Curling Club

Myrnam has a rich heritage for curling including an Alberta High School Provincial Championship. An excellent atmosphere linking young and old, seasoned curlers and beginners awaits participants at the Myrnam Curling Club. You can participate in a weekly curling league or play in one of several bonspiels held throughout the curling season which runs from mid-to-late November until the end of March.

Public Skating


The Myrnam arena has become a focal point of activity from late November to March. Purchase a family pass, turn off the TV and go for a public skate with the entire family and friends.

Myrnam 4H Multi-Club

The Myrnam 4H Multi Club helps instruct and encourage youth to engage in agricultural related activities. Through ongoing meetings, shows and events the Myrnam 4H Club has a rich heritage of supporting local youth in the Myrnam Area.

 Myrnam Pond Hockey

Each winter kids from 4 – 16 participate in Pond Hockey. The learn to skate program and instruction allows kid’s from different ages groups to participate in non-contact hockey to simply have fun.

Myrnam River Ridge Riders

Since 2000 the popularity of snowmobiling in the Myrnam area has continued to grow. To ensure adequate trails throughout the area were developed the Myrnam Snow Mobile Club was formed. Through the tireless efforts of many dedicated members, the club now boasts over 100 km of marked trails. In 2011 the club was awarded the ASA Excellence Award for Northeast Club of the year.

Myrnam Rec Baseball

Join us each year for summer recreational baseball, The sport of baseball was once a major source of summertime fun for residents of smaller communities throughout North Eastern Alberta. Thanks to the efforts of a few dedicated volunteers the community now can provide an opportunity to once again enjoy the sport each year.
