Myrnam Calling: Why I’m Ready to Make It Home Contest Entry Form

Contest Overview

  • Name of Contest: “Myrnam Calling: Why I’m Ready to Make It Home” Video Contest
  • Prize: One (1) residential lot located in the Village of Myrnam, Alberta (the “Prize”).
  • Contest Period: The contest begins on January 2, 2025 and ends on December 31, 2025 (the “Contest Period”).
  • Contest Administrator: Village of Myrnam (“Organizer”).

Eligibility

  • The contest is open to individual Canadian Citizens, excluding those who reside in Quebec, and who are at least 19 years old at the time of entry. Corporations or other legal entities are not eligible to enter.
  • Contestants must submit a video in accordance with these official rules.
  • Employees, agents, or representatives of the Organizer, as well as immediate family members and individuals living in the same household, are not eligible to participate.
  • The contest is void where prohibited by law.
  • One entry per person. Any subsequent entries will not be reviewed.

How to Enter

To enter the contest, participants must:

  1. Create and submit a video answering the question: “Why I’m Ready to Make It Home in Myrnam”. Your video should focus on why you want to live in Myrnam, what makes Myrnam the perfect place for you to call home, and how you envision making the most of the prize. We want to hear your passion and dreams for this community!
  2. Video Guidelines:
    • The video must be no longer than 3 minutes.
    • It should be submitted in one of the following formats: MPG, MP4, MOV, or AVI.
    • Video resolution must be at least 720p for clarity.
    • Your video must be uploaded on the contest website no later than December 31, 2025.
  3. Entry Fee: An entry fee of $20.00 is required for each submission.  Be advised that all entries are non-refundable, and no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.
  1. Video Consent and Release Form: By submitting a video, you must agree to the Video Consent and Release Form, which grants the Organizer permission to use the video and any personal information contained in the video, including images or likenesses for promotional purposes related to the contest. This is mandatory for all participants.

Additional Information

Video Consent and Release Form

As part of the entry, every participant must submit a completed Video Consent and Release Form. By submitting the video, you agree to the following terms:

  • Content Ownership: You confirm that the video is your original creation, and you have the right to use all elements (including music, images, or third-party content) in the video. You also represent that no one else has any rights to the video or the content therein.
  • Grant of Rights: By entering the contest, you grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, distribute, and publicly display the video and any still images or excerpts from it, for any marketing or promotional purpose related to the contest (including social media, website, print media, and advertisements). This includes the right to use your name, image, and likeness in connection with the video.
  • Consent for All Participants in the Video: If the video includes other people (such as friends or family), you must obtain their consent on the Third-Party Consent and Release Form for each individual. This is mandatory.  If the video features a minor, a parent or legal guardian must sign on their behalf.  If permission is not expressed for each individual in the video on the Video Consent and Release Form this entry, in its entirety, will be null and void.

Judging Criteria

The submitted videos will be judged based on:

  • Creativity and originality in explaining why you want to make Myrnam your home (30%)
  • Relevance to the contest theme: “Why I’m Ready to Make It Home in Myrnam” (50%)
  • Clarity of message and quality of the video production (lighting, sound, visuals) (20%)

A panel of independent judges, selected by the Organizer, will evaluate the videos. The judges’ decisions are final and binding.  Depending on the number of entries, finalists may be decided by online voting poll.

Prize

  • One (1) vacant residential lot located in the Village of Myrnam, Alberta.
  • The Prize is non-transferable and has an approximate value of $5,500.00.
  • The winner will be responsible for any taxes, land transfer fees, and other associated costs with taking ownership of the Prize.

Winner Selection and Notification

  • The winner will be selected on or about March 31, 2026 based on the judging criteria and notified via phone and email.  Depending on the number of entries, the date of notifying the winner may be delayed.  If the process is delayed, information will be updated on the Village of Myrnam website under Public Notices.
  • The winner must respond in writing to the Organizer (by sending an email to admin@myrnam.ca) within 48 hours of being notified that they have been selected as the winner. If the winner does not respond in writing to the Organizer within this timeframe, the Prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected.
  • The winner may be required to participate in publicity, including sharing their video and appearing in promotional materials related to the contest.

Publicity

  • By entering the contest, you agree to allow the Organizer to use your name, video, and likeness for promotional purposes, including but not limited to sharing on the Organizer’s website, social media, print media, and other marketing materials. You will not receive any additional compensation for this use.

General Terms

  • The Organizer reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest if fraud, technical failures, or other factors beyond the Organizer’s control impair the integrity or fairness of the contest.
  • The Organizer is not responsible for any technical issues, lost or late entries, or any errors in the submission process.
  • This contest is governed by the laws of Province of Alberta, and any disputes will be handled in the Courts of Alberta.
  • Each Province has its own tax laws; the winner may need to report the prize as income.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to require proof of residency in Canada from any entrant. Failure to provide government issued identification within 48 hours will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner.

VIDEO CONSENT AND RELEASE FORM

By submitting a video entry (“Video”) for the “Myrnam Calling: Why I’m Ready to Make It Home” Contest (“Contest”), I hereby grant the Village of Myrnam, its affiliates, subsidiaries, partners, agents, and assigns (collectively “the Organizer”) the following rights:

  1. Grant of Rights

I hereby grant the Organizer the right to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and publicly perform my Video, along with any associated content, including but not limited to my name, voice, likeness, and any other identifying information (“Content”) in connection with the Contest, for promotional and marketing purposes, across any and all media channels, including but not limited to social media, websites, advertisements, print materials, and television, in perpetuity and without compensation.

  1. Ownership

I confirm that the Video is my original work and does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party. I agree that I hold full ownership and rights to the Video and that no third-party permissions are required for the Organizer’s use of the Video.

  1. Participant Representations and Warranties

I affirm that:

  • I am the sole creator of the Video, and I possess all necessary rights, licenses, or permissions for all aspects of the Video, including any music, images, or other content.  Be aware of any copyright laws.
  • If any third parties appear in my Video, I have obtained and submitted a completed Third-Party Consent and Release Form of those individuals to use their likenesses in the Video.
  • If the Video features minors, I confirm that I have obtained consent from the parents or legal guardians of the minors using the Third-Party Consent and Release Form, allowing their appearance in the Video and granting the Organizer the same rights as outlined in this Agreement.
  1. No Obligation to Use

I acknowledge that the Organizer has no obligation to use, display, or distribute my Video. The Organizer has the sole discretion to determine whether to use the Video in the Contest or for promotional purposes.

  1. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Organizer from any claims, damages, liabilities, or costs arising from any breach of this release (including legal fees on a solicitor and own client basis), including claims made by third parties for unauthorized use of their images, likenesses, or other content.

  1. No Additional Compensation

I acknowledge that my participation in this Contest and the use of my Video for the purposes described above will not entitle me to any additional compensation, royalties, or payment.

  1. Right to Withdraw

I understand that I can withdraw my participation in the Contest and request that my Video be removed from promotional use at any time before the end of the Contest period by sending a written request to the Organizer at the contact information provided below. However, I understand that this will not affect any prior uses of my Video that have already been made.

  1. Legal Compliance

This consent and release is governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, and I agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Alberta in the event of any disputes arising from this Agreement.
